Validating the external quality subcharacteristics of software products according to ISO/IEC 9126
نویسنده
چکیده
The study statistically tests the proposition of the ISO/IEC 9126 standard that higher external quality (quality when software is executed) implies higher ‘quality in use’. For this purpose, the study based on 75 user survey data shows that individual external quality subcharacteristics are positively associated with user satisfaction as defined in ‘quality in use’. This study also investigates the external quality subcharacteristics that strongly influence user satisfaction. Our results provide guidance for the revision of the Standard as well as supporting management decisions (i.e., resource allocation) aimed at improving software product quality. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. Quality and usability: A new framework
ISO/IEC 9126 (1991) established a practical way of decomposing software quality into a set of characteristics and subcharacteristics. Reconciling this approach to quality with a new standard for usability (ISO 9241-11) has led to a comprehensive framework for software product quality which is being incorporated in a revision to ISO/IEC 9126. The new framework defines three perspectives: interna...

متن کاملPolitecnico di Torino Porto Institutional Repository [ Proceeding ] Using the ISO / IEC 9126 product quality model to classify defects
Background: Existing software defect classification schemes support multiple tasks, such as root cause analysis and process improvement guidance. However, existing schemes do not assist in assigning defects to a broad range of high level software goals, such as software quality characteristics like functionality, maintainability, and usability. Aim: We investigate whether a classification based...
متن کاملTest software quality issues and connections to international standards
This paper examines how ISO/IEC 9126-1 and ISO/IEC 25010 quality models can be applied to software testing products in industrial environment. We present a set of code smells for test systems written in TTCN-3 and their categorization according to quality model standards. We demonstrate our measurements on industrial and ETSI projects, and provide a method for estimating their effects on produc...

ـ ـــ This paper presents the quality model of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems by adapting the ISO9126 standard. This model is used to verify that whether the implementation of ERP systems will succeed or fail in higher educational institutions. Six quality characteristics are suggested to be minimum requirements for creating the quality model of ERP systems, including functionality,...
